This piece of art, "Sunset Cloud, Green River, Wyoming," was created by Thomas Moran in 1917; It was gifted to the Smithsonian American Art Museum by Bernadette Berger. Moran used both warm and cool colors in this painting. Sections of the clouds, mountain, and ground each have a warm touch to them. The cool colors of the sky, trees, and majority of the ground allow the warm colors to pop out. The tone creates a lot of depth into this piece of art and makes it look 3-dimensional. The trees have a lighter tone on the right side where the sun is, and it gets darker towards the left. The stream on the left side appears to have a lighter tone which grows darker as it goes further away. The left side of the mountains each have a darker tone. A majority of the ground has a darker tone probably because a cloud is covering where the sun would be touching. I would most definitely own this beautiful masterpiece if possible! I would...
